Job description
We are recruiting for Night Hostel Support Workers across our Bognor and Chichester Hostel.
Hours: 8pm-8am (sleeping between the hours of 11pm-6am), however if there is an emergency/incident taking place during the sleeping period, you may be woken up to support with the situation (you remain on duty throughout the shift)
This role is working alongside a night concierge team member
Stonepillow supports and empowers homeless and vulnerable people to achieve sustainable independence and wellbeing and make positive changes in their lives.
Your role will be to support homeless adults who may be experiencing a number of complexities including mental health and substance misuse issues. The aim of the role is to support and signpost clients into services that will improve their housing, health and wellbeing while improving the client’s quality of life. This is achieved through the provision of engagement and individualised support plans, targeted interventions, signposting and group work. You will work proactively to form strong relationships and gain clients' trust, striving to provide the best possible service levels at all times.
Working as part of a team as well as independently, the successful candidate will have good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to motivate, engage and inspire including the initiative to be able to deal with challenging situations in a calm and effect manner.
Role Duties
- Welfare checks
- Conduct case management reviews which involve undertaking risk assessments
- Actively engage with clients to improve client outcomes ensuring clear boundaries are adhered to.
- Promote clients’ independence and meaningful community presence prepare them for independent living so they are ready to transfer to alternative accommodation. This is achieved by supporting and encouraging clients to maintain a clean and safe physical environment and offering advice where needed to promote lifestyle skills such as cleaning, laundry, cooking and self-care.
- Managing and deescalating any disputes or emergencies recording incident reports.
- Recognising and reporting of safeguarding concerns.
- Adhere to Stonepillow’s policies and procedures approaching work with clients in a holistic, trauma-informed and person-centred way.
- To complete support notes, recording the support provided to the client. All written records must be up to date, accurate and legible as they are the source of reporting on service provision for our stakeholders.
- To assist with the preparation of vacant rooms to maximise occupancy (clearing and cleaning)
- Take part in cleaning duties and identifying and recording any maintenance issues.
