Senior Finance Assistant

Haywards Heath, West Sussex

£20,000-26,000pa (study support available)

My client has been at the forefront of their specialised sector for many years and leads through innovation and customer reputation. They currently have a newly created opportunity for a diligent, hardworking Finance Assistant to join their expanding team. Reporting into the Project Accountant, this individual will have a varied, high-involvement position which offers excellent opportunities for growth and role development.

This is a really interesting company who work in a very project focused industry meaning the work is constantly evolving. They're presently building upon several years of healthy growth and expanding operations, meaning that new resources have to be added to the team. They offer an attractive office environment alongside a highly supportive, dynamic, and welcoming team ethos.

Duties:

  • Recording and monitoring progress of the application for payment for internal and cash-flow reporting needs
  • Analysis of returned applications for payment and generation of sales invoice for internal approval and submission to client
  • Collect, prepare and analyse all chargeable time for submission to client
  • Collation and analysis of weekly submissions of chargeable time into periodic applications for payment for internal approval and submission to client
  • Reconciliation and validation of draft application for payments to project management systems
  • Analysing and recording of staff and invoiced expenses for payment approval and sales invoicing
  • Regular review of all contract financial administration ensuring all data is up to date e.g. rates, dates, tasks, personnel, budgets
  • Any other financial analysis associated with projects or component elements for example staff, associates, expenses and equipment
  • Identification, analysis and assessment of financial risks and opportunities on projects
  • Supportive of business operational needs by performing all required administration in a professional and timely manner
  • Supporting a positive, forward looking, performance driven and customer focused culture
  • Portraying a professional image to clients, external consultants and sub-consultants
  • Engaging positively in other duties that may be reasonably required from time to time

Candidate requirements:

  • Good academic record
  • Existing experience of working in a finance / accounting department
  • Intermediate use of Microsoft Excel with a good understanding of formulas
  • Use of computerised systems, in particular Microsoft Office
  • Strong team player, friendly, enthusiastic, flexible, hardworking, dynamic, self-motivated and professional
  • Experienced in working under pressure to tight deadlines whilst maintaining high levels of accuracy
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Ability to take initiative for own work
