Introduction

An exciting opportunity has arisen to become part of a dynamic team within the East Sussex Public Health team as an Information Specialist. We are looking for an experienced analyst with knowledge and experience of working with/in public health.

 Job Summary

Working within the Public Health Intelligence Team, based at County Hall in Lewes, you will be providing expert advice and guidance on information/statistics/epidemiology, developing health related data sets and developing links with partner organisations.

You will be responsible for:

- Developing and managing parts of the public health information function and for providing specialist analytical support to the wider public health team, others in the council and partners in the NHS;

- Developing, introducing and maintaining information systems and analytical expertise to assist the Director of Public Health in fulfilling their public health responsibilities;

- Collecting, analysing and interpreting information from many different sources including those outside the health sector;

Qualities/skills

Educated to degree level or equivalent in statistics / demography / epidemiology reflecting strong numeracy skills and understanding of statistical techniques.  In-depth knowledge of health related data sources and their scope and limitations for use in public health intelligence. Expertise in the analysis, interpretation and presentation of data.

Travel/Flexibility

The post holder whilst based in Lewes may be required to travel across East Sussex.

Additional Information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
