Job Details

Hours of work: up to 37 hours per week Working pattern: Full/Part-time

Closing date: Sunday 27 August 2017 For an informal discussion, please contact Ian Williams - Registered Homes Manager.

About the Role

Opportunities have arisen for a number of full and part time Residential Childcare Workers to be appointed within our residential children’s homes across East Sussex.

If you are passionate and committed to working with children, want to help them reach their full potential, develop and maximise their opportunities; then we would like to hear from you. You will have had experience of working directly with children and can demonstrate a good understanding of child care and child development. Our looked after children can often be challenging and will require a professionally nurturing approach. Residential Childcare Workers will need to be committed, adaptable to children's needs and go the extra mile. We want you to make a difference to their outcomes.

We are looking for applicants who can demonstrate all of the above, have good communication skills, the ability to listen to children, act on their behalf, as well as being flexible enough to be part of the larger team around the child.

The successful candidates will work on a rota basis. The post includes shift work, weekend working and sleep-in duties (additional payments for sleep-ins apply).

Candidates will be selected in line with recommendations of the Warner Report, which includes written exercises, aptitude tests, and interviews with both professionals and children.

Additional Information

This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check or Enhanced check for Regulated Activity with the Disclosure & Barring Services (previously the Criminal Records Bureau). Please note that we require evidence of an overseas police check if you have lived or worked abroad.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.

From 6 April 2011 the Home Office has placed a permanent restriction on the number of migrant workers that all Tier 2 (General) Sponsors can recruit. Due to the restrictions we cannot guarantee that individuals that meet the requirements of the Points-based Immigration System will be issued with clearance to obtain work permits.

Equal Opportunities

East Sussex County Council is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all suitable candidates, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age. All applications are treated on merit.
