About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time inspecting officer post based at Eastbourne Fire Station, enforcing petroleum and related regulations.   This post is within the Services Business Safety Department and is integral in continuing the Service’s efforts in providing an outstanding Service Delivery function. The successful applicant will be responsible for undertaking a full range of petroleum safety activities in accordance with protection policy and guidelines, including the preparation of reports and appropriate documentation related to petroleum inspections. The successful applicant will also supervise workloads within allocated areas of responsibility. Petroleum related regulatory work is undertaken on behalf of our constituent authorities of East Sussex County Council and Brighton and Hove City Council. The successful applicant will be working in a learning environment and as such, subject to business needs, may benefit from future opportunities to develop their skills and knowledge further to encompass other areas of enforcement, such as enforcement of general fire safety legislation. This may also in future attract additional hours, such as may become available at the time. We welcome applications from those with petroleum or other relevant enforcement experience gained in the Fire and Rescue Service or local authority or equivalent. Full training will be provided in any area that may subsequently be identified as a business need, to any successful candidate who may require it. Good verbal and written communication skills together with commitment to continuous professional development and a flexible attitude are essential to the role. The post holder will be required to communicate with colleagues from other disciplines.
