About the Role

Days: Monday and Wednesday in Bexhill - Other days potentially to be added in Brighton.

Working hours: 9.15am to 5.15pm

Job purpose:

To lead on the planning and delivery of Dv8 Sussex’s Digital Magazine Training Programme funded by the Skills Support for the Unemployed Programme. Delivering an ongoing high quality online magazine, led by young people through the Skills Support for the Unemployed (SSU) funding and accredited through vocational skills, numeracy and literacy qualifications.

The tutor will be working with unemployed young people from 16 - 24, giving them real-world experience of being on the content production team of an online magazine.

The tutor will lead on the project of developing and maintaining a website that is a training platform and also a destination for high-quality youth centred content.

Summary of role:

The Online Magazine is a new initiative from Dv8 in Sussex, aiming to provide real world experience of working on a magazine, whilst embedding a host of valuable cross-transferrable skills to enable them to be successful in work and life.

The environment will be set up as a working magazine, with students taking up roles as reporters, sub-editors, photographers, marketing assistants, etc throughout the programme.

The tutor will be responsible for the leading of the magazine’s editorial content, with the aim being to create a publication created young people, for young people.

The project funding required students to achieve a number of small accredited units each month to enable funding to be released, and the lead tutor role will be responsible for planning and delivering a range of activities that allow for real life, live assessment to take place in our virtual workplace at Dv8.
