About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Support Worker within Learning Disability Services to work within the skills development pathways (including our training cafes). This is where you will provide person centred support to people with learning disabilities to make the difference on the front-line of service delivery. The aim of your role is to empower individuals to develop skills necessary to enhance their lives enabling them to reach their full potential. Client involvement and promoting independence are our core values.

We are inviting applications from self-motivated, committed and creative individuals to join our team to support clients across an array of energising projects. You will be supporting individuals within the day service environment, but also working alongside our community partners across the County as a part of our Skills Development Pathway. This pathway forms part of our existing day service offer; however it has a different focus and is the next step for those clients who are seeking to become more independent. Through a culture of innovation, and putting clients first you will be the leading face for our community partners whilst striving to maintain progression and development, upholding the reputation of the learning disability service. This role is countywide, so the ability to travel is essential.

For you there is the opportunity to take on a role within a high paced, dynamic and rewarding team with real meaning.

Additional Information

This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check or Enhanced check for Regulated Activity with the Disclosure & Barring Services (previously the Criminal Records Bureau). Please note that we require evidence of an overseas police check if you have lived or worked abroad.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.

From 6 April 2011 the Home Office has placed a permanent restriction on the number of migrant workers that all Tier 2 (General) Sponsors can recruit. Due to the restrictions we cannot guarantee that individuals that meet the requirements of the Points-based Immigration System will be issued with clearance to obtain work permits.

Equal Opportunities

East Sussex County Council is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all suitable candidates, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age. All applications are treated on merit.
