About the Role

East Sussex County Council is recruiting for a Drainage Officer. This appointment which focuses on assessing the flood risk implications of new development requires a range of skills and abilities including experience of designing and assessing drainage strategies, the use of GIS in identifying and communicating local flood risk and a knowledge of the planning system and the development process.

In addition to this, the post holder will assist the team’s Flood Risk Management Officer in processing applications for Ordinary Watercourse Consent; participate in public engagement and partnership projects/events and technical support to other team members.

Opportunities to work on local area studies such as surface water management plans, local flooding (section 19) investigations and related projects will also feature.

Additional Information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
