We require a full-time career graded technician to support Planning and Highways functions within WSCC working on a number of areas in support of the Team.

This is a good starting point for a career in a number of fields such as planning, transport planning, civil engineering or planning policy work. Prior experience is not essential, but will be useful; we are looking for someone with an interest in these fields for their future career.

The work is varied and can include responding to Local Land Charge searches or highway boundary enquiries; assessing highway matters relating to small planning applications; calculating Section 106 requirements for applications and liaising with services regarding their requirements; and monitoring residential and commercial developments. Our team also maintain GIS and other datasets and we provide GIS support both within the Directorate and across WSCC. You may also work on other areas within the Business Unit as part of matrix working arrangements.

The role involves working within a forward thinking Unit, responsible for delivering and supporting the Planning services Directorate through the coordination, implementation and promotion of key objectives within the County.
