With you, with the child…Every step of the way

There’s a real momentum at West Sussex County Council. We’re focused on creating more positive outcomes for children and their families and we have the optimism and enthusiasm to achieve it. We’ve already redesigned our service, transforming both our systems and the way we work. We’ve been inspired as one of only ten authorities involved in the Signs of Safety England Innovations Project.

We are looking to appoint an experienced and dynamic Group Manager to the Fostering South Teams and the Placement Finding Service. We provide services to supervise and support foster carers and to match and place children within in-house resources and the external market. You will need to have a wide background in Children’s social care and working with service models based on Developmental Trauma and Attachment theory and practice.

Passionate about improving outcomes for children; ready to share your great ideas and great practice you will provide confident and ambitious leadership which will inspire and motivate staff. You will be confident in risk management and decision making and demonstrate a commitment to work collaboratively within a whole system that focuses on quality practice and outcomes for children.

You will be responsible for the development of skills and experience in your operational area. You will ensure that the service provides the professional expertise that meets the needs of children, young people and foster carers.

To apply for this vacancy, please send us your CV detailing your education and employment history, making sure you give reasons for leaving all jobs and explain any gaps in employment history.

We’d also like a written statement about what makes you a great social worker/social work manager, how you meet the key skills and what you can bring in relation to the role.

You will need a full driving licence and access to a vehicle.

You also need to let us know details of your referees and HCPC registration details.
