Please note that all care staff must be at least 21 years old. No person can work in a children’s home unless they are at least 3 years older than the oldest child accommodated.

Orchard House is a fifteen bedded mixed gender unit which offers care and accommodation for children who have a severe learning disability, normally from the age of 10 to 18, who have been assessed as needing a residential placement. As a Residential Night Child Care Worker you will be working with children and young people with disabilities who often present challenging behaviour. We are looking for applicants willing to work 1, 2 or 3 nights per week. Your main responsibility will be to oversee the welfare of the children in our care overnight. The role involves remaining awake all night and to be available to offer support, reassurance and other care as necessary to ensure the children are able to settle to sleep. There will be a range of other household tasks and duties to complete during your shifts and you will be expected to provide good quality records. You will need:- • to be alert to the needs of the young people in our care and mindful of their safety. • to have a good level of resilience to cope with this challenging but rewarding role. • to be able to show care, understanding, flexibility and appropriate professional boundaries • to be able to work as a part of a team. We recognise that our staff are our most valuable resource and offer high levels of support and an extensive training pathway (including the Level 3 Diploma for Children and Young People’s Workforce) to ensure our teams are equipped to meet the needs and challenges of the children we care for. You will receive a salary package, including weekend working payments. There is the opportunity and support for all Night Care Assistants to undertake A Level 3 qualification.
