This position is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check (formerly Criminal Records Bureau check) This role is county wide, but primarily covers the northern half of the county and the northern area team are based at Broadbridge Heath, Horsham.

Daily business travel around the county required.

Working within the County Council's Transport Bureau you will help to ensure an excellent service to our customers by performance monitoring a range of transport contracts across the county.

Every day the County Council provides transport for thousands of passengers to schools, colleges, and other day care services by bus, coach, minibus, and taxi. You will work with colleagues across the Transport Bureau to ensure these transport contracts operate smoothly and are fully compliant with the appropriate rules and regulations.

You will travel around the county daily visiting e.g. school sites to observe and monitor transport providers to ensure that drivers and other transport staff, and their vehicles, are of the required standard, are carrying the required documentation and are operating the contract in a safe manner in accordance with the conditions of the contract.

You will work with our customers, colleagues and service providers to investigate and resolve any performance issues or disputes; meeting with customers and suppliers, and suggesting performance improvement plans as necessary.

The role requires you to work with colleagues to plan a series of site inspection visits, using your initiative to prioritise new workload as necessary. You will be required to keep accurate records and reports of your site visits, and communicate these to colleagues for inclusion in team incident reporting logs.
