The foundations for future mental health, emotional control, intelligence and parenting ability are all set in place in the early years and the home surroundings, family life and parenting are all important factors in determining positive outcomes for children in the future.

We have an exciting permanent opportunity for a Partnership Support Officer -Duke of Edinburgh’s Award for 30 hours per week. West Sussex County Council has been licenced to deliver the DofE Award for over 50 years. The scheme has a positive and high profile across West Sussex with almost 10,000 participants actively involved in undertaking the award. The day to day delivery of the DofE award is devolved via a service level agreement to centres within Schools, Uniformed Organisations and other services and is supported by an extensive network of volunteers. The County Council, along with the range of organisations delivering the programme have a proven track record of supporting the personal and social development of young people.

Our Team supports and advises the delivery of the DofE licence across West Sussex. Our aspiration is to develop quality and capacity for increasing the number of awards achieved; focussing on accessibility and provision for targeted young people whilst ensuring appropriate high quality Universal Provision.

The Partnership Support Officer will provide support for developing effective working with schools, colleges and other organisations across the county. Effective collaborative working is key to this role and staff are expected to deliver training and events as directed. Based in the Voice & Participation Team, there may be other opportunities for work as needed, making this an interesting and diverse role.

Outdoor Education and DofE knowledge particularly around Expeditions, is an advantage but not essential as training will be provided.

As the post is countywide, a full driving license is an advantage but not essential.

Interviews will be held in Chichester.
