Arun Neighbourhood Development Worker
Scale 6 (£23,398 - £24,964 per annum)
Full Time – 37 hours per week, Two year fixed term contract from date of commencement

This post will be responsible for enabling communities to identify their aspirations and work together to achieve positive outcomes for all generations who are resident within the River and Bersted wards in Arun. Pivotal to this will be assertive outreach working with vulnerable groups and individuals and working closely with key specialist partners to enable accessible services to be available in addition to addressing and reducing anti-social behaviour patterns where identified.


This is a highly demanding role and requires someone with strong determination and commitment to achieving the desired performance outcomes (as outlined in the job description) in order to help vulnerable and diverse communities achieve holistic positive change. You will need to be emotionally resilient as you will be dealing with individuals and groups who are resistant to change and have excellent interpersonal skills including an ability to build effective relationships with both the identified cohort and partners.
Being proactive is an essential skill along with a willingness to work flexibly to meet the needs of service users which will include some working outside of core hours, as and when identified. You will also have the ability to work enthusiastically and reliably under pressure.
The post will report to the Community Safety Officer and is part of the Community Safety Team in Arun District Council.
