Legal Secretary – Private Clients
Petworth
£21,000 to £23,000 + 20 days holiday pa plus Bank Holidays, Up to 5% pension contributions, Subsidised Private Health, Free Death-in-Service and Free parking


A great opportunity for someone with previous Legal Secretarial experience to join a medium sized firm in Petworth. The primary role of a legal secretary is to provide direct support to his/her Principal to enable the Principal to operate at maximum efficiency. This will include, but will not be limited to, the main responsibilities listed below. The legal secretary is expected to use a high degree of self-management and initiative.


·Main Responsibilities of the Legal Secretary:

oTo prepare correspondence and documents through audio-typing and word processing using the firm's computer systems.

oTo compose routine letters occasionally in the absence of his/her Principal.

oTo administer filing which will include daily filing and the opening, closing, storage and retrieval of client files in accordance with the detailed procedures contained in the Office Manual.

oTo ensure the smooth flow of correspondence and other matters through the office.

oTo ensure that all correspondence and enquiries are dealt with correctly and in a timely manner.

oTo prepare mail, cheques and enclosures for dispatch as necessary.

oTo undertake or arrange photocopying as required.

oTo make appointments, arrange meetings and to maintain an up-to-date diary

oTo act as the main contact and administrator for the firm's Certainty Database.

oTo maintain the Firm's own Database of Wills.

oTo provide refreshments when asked to do so.

oTo provide support to other staff as required.

oTo provide guidance to junior and temporary staff when required.

oTo attend clients, both in person and on the telephone and to provide such support in a professional and friendly manner, in line with the firm's standards of client care, and keeping written record of any such attendance.

oTo undertake any specific training when required to do so and overall, to have a responsibility for self-development.

oTo ensure the confidentiality of the firm's and its client's documentation and information.

oTo provide cover for Reception and all other general office duties;
