About the Role

Are you fluent in English and one of the following languages: Bulgarian, Albanian, Romanian, Farsi, Italian, Kurdish, Pashtu, Tagalog, Vietnamese, Thai and Malayalam.

The English as an Additional Language Service (EALS) is recruiting for casual bilingual support officers.

You must be able to travel across the County as you could be required to deliver support in several schools/venues across East Sussex in one day.

As part of your role, you may be asked to: 

- deliver bilingual support to EAL pupils in primary and secondary schools across East Sussex;

- assist schools with communication with families of EAL pupils;

- provide interpreting and translation services to East Sussex County Council Departments, partners and external clients.

You will be able to demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, high levels of self-organisation and motivation as well as having good ICT skills.

This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check or Enhanced check for Regulated Activity with the Disclosure & Barring Services (previously the Criminal Records Bureau). Please note that we require evidence of an overseas police check if you have lived or worked abroad.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
