About the Role

After many years’ service our Clerk to Governors is pursuing other career options.

We are looking for a new clerk who will provide a high level of advice, support and administrative assistance to our governing body.

This involves arranging meetings; taking minutes; keeping records; advising the governing body about local and national developments and ensuring legal procedures are followed correctly.

The school benefits from spacious modern premises and is situated in the heart of the village, near both Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill. We are a very popular, oversubscribed school and pride ourselves on being friendly and welcoming with a strong ‘community ethos’.

The school is expanding and in September 2017 will be organised as a single year group school with up to 210 on roll.

The successful candidate will be flexible, well-organised, have a sense of humour and a can-do attitude. We are looking for someone who:

  • Is able to establish good working relationships with governors, ESCC and staff
  • Has excellent IT skills
  • Is able to manage workload and prioritise effectively
  • Has good communication skills
  • Has, or is willing to work towards, the BTEC Level 3 Clerk to Governors award or equivalent qualification.

This permanent position is for 164 hours per year with a flexible working pattern.

The starting salary is 20,049 - 21,250 dependent on experience and qualifications.

As this is a part time position the salary will be pro rata.

If you are interested in the position please complete the application from which can be found on our website. Alternatively, contact the school office, preferably by e-mail

Visits to the school are warmly welcomed and are strongly encouraged.

Please contact the school  to make an appointment, or for any other queries regarding this position.

Additional Information

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
