Assistant Accountant

A renowned, international business based in Haywards Heath requires a highly motivated and technically astute Assistant Accountant to join their expanding finance team in a newly created role. Reporting to a Financial Controller as part of a project finance team, this individual will play a key role in monitoring, managing, and reporting on the financial aspects of an overseas project.

This will be an engaging and diverse role where this individual will get the opportunity to make an active difference to the success of this new project and develop themselves professionally.

Overview of duties:

• Ongoing financial monitoring of projects to determine whether adequate progress is being made and to support compliance with rules and regulations.
• Analysis across data sets using Excel to identify cost drivers and performance across activities.
• Produce internal and external analysis and reports to influence project decision making.
• Manage all aspects of project cash flow.
• Ensure that income and expenditure is correctly reflected in the accounting system.
• Check, review and process expenditure claims and project related claims and support with other day to day finance and administration tasks on the projects.

Candidate Requirements:

• Meticulous attention to detail and a proactive and positive approach.
• Excellent communication skills at all levels.
• Strong Excel skills including pivot tables.
• Experience of analysing cost drivers and unit costs across various entities is desirable.
• Qualified by experience, part or fully qualified accountants will all be considered.
