About the Role
Do you have the motivation and skills to support people with learning disabilities to live life to the full?
Could you help someone be independent and take part in the things they want to do?
We're looking for people who can make a real difference to someone's life, attending to the small and personal details that really matter, each day, every day.
We are looking for relief Support Workers to cover for staff holidays and sickness, sometimes at short notice for our services across East Sussex.
These posts are particularly suitable for people who want to gain experience and training, with plenty of flexibility - whether that's to study, fit around family or another job, or just get a 'foot in the door' after a break. You may be asked to work on a pre-planned basis as well as covering for last minute absences within a service. It's entirely up to you whether you accept shifts.
We welcome applications from students, people with life skills or people with social care experience. You must be a good communicator, have the ability to work on your own in community and be able to interact positively and sensitively with people.
Additional Information
This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check or Enhanced check for Regulated Activity with the Disclosure & Barring Services (previously the Criminal Records Bureau). Please note that we require evidence of an overseas police check if you have lived or worked abroad.
Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
From 6 April 2011 the Home Office has placed a permanent restriction on the number of migrant workers that all Tier 2 (General) Sponsors can recruit. Due to the restrictions we cannot guarantee that individuals that meet the requirements of the Points-based Immigration System will be issued with clearance to obtain work permits.
Equal Opportunities
East Sussex County Council is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all suitable candidates, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age. All applications are treated on merit.
Information for redeployees
If you wish to discuss the above position in more detail or be considered for redeployment into this post, please contact your HR Advisor.
